Pavel Zacek, M.D., Ph.D. (born in 1959) is a consulting cardiac surgeon at Charles University Hospital in Hradec Kralove.   Attracted to painting in his childhood, Zacek found his "other life" as a completely self-taught artist in technically-demanding multi-layered oil painting, and from his knowledge and skill through the study of literature and analysis of the works of the great masters in world galleries.  In addition to painting, he creates scientific and medical illustrations and is interested in computer graphics and multimedia educational projects.

His travels and exhibitions outside the Czech Republic have taken him to Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Poland, United Kingdom, and to Minneapolis and Chicago in the United States.
