James Sebor, a surrealist painter, was born in 1957 and grew up in the suburbs of Long Island, New York.

Granted a fair amount of freedom and autonomy by his parents, Jim's fertile imagination was nurtured through hours of creative play.  Many hours were spent in front of the TV set absorbing a plethora of characters in surreal worlds brought to life on-screen by extremely imaginative artists.

Jim was also brought up in a time of major social change, rebellion, and violence, and he turned to surreal painting in hopes of making sense out of what he believed to be a violent and indifferent world.

His work has been exhibited in New York and California.

Jim's work embodies twisted playfulness and whimsy, as is apparent in the three paintings below which were chosen from his many works.
