Born in Washington, D.C. to Chilean parents, Claudia Olivos was raised in Chile where she attended a private Catholic school. Her family returned to the United States when she was 14 years old. She holds a BA in psychology, a BFA in painting from George Mason University, and an MFA from Vermont College. In doing her MFA studies, Claudia focused on the artwork of the Surrealists and on the literary genre of Magic Realism.

The founder and one time owner of a gallery in Washington, D.C., Claudia currently exhibits extensively nationally and internationally. She was included in the 2003 Edition of Marquis's Who's Who of American Women.

Claudia has taught at the Smithsonian Institution Resident Associates Program; she teaches at the Art League in Alexandria, Virginia and is adjunct faculty at the Art Institute of Washington.

She resides in Arlington, Virginia, with her son, Julian. Claudia is the owner of OlivosArt Studio LLC in Arlington, Virginia where she teaches and conducts workshops on art, art media, and art history. A more detailed biography can be read at Claudia's website (link at bottom of page).
