Joseph Matar was born in Ghadir, Lebanon, in 1935. His first experience with art was at the age of ten, when he discovered Indian inks.  Now a master of oils, watercolors, pastels, pencil, ink, and other media, he has a lifetime of achievement as a creative artist in many artistic fields.  His creative spirit matured in the universities as an instructor and professor of fine arts, a writer and poet, through government art scholarships, and workshops and museums in Europe.  Matar has had more than 65 personal exhibitions in Lebanon and around the world.
