Nebojsa Duranovic was born on Feb. 20, 1968, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, where he lives and works today.  After entering the School of Applied Art in 1992, he began work on his first series of paintings entitled "Nemanjics Among the Serbs," which is dedicated to the founders of Serbia and the events from the Serbian medieval state [the royal house of Nemanjic ruled Serbia from the 12th century up to 1371].

In June 1994, Duranovic's first solo exhibition was at the City Gallery in Belgrade with twenty oil paintings of large format.  A second exhibition took place in December 1994 at the Museum of Vojvodina in Novi Sad (Yugoslavia).  In 1995, his works were exhibited at the National Museum of Belgrade and the Gallery Santa Maria (Budva, Montenegro, Yugoslavia).  In 1997 he completed illustrations for books and magazines, and started a new series of paintings entitled "Lights of Fire."  His fifth solo exhibition was held in the cultural centre of Russia with the presentation of eighteen new works.

His numerous group and solo exhibitions have brought him both professional and commercial success; his works represent an alternative to the modern expression of today's generation of painters.  His inspiration is derived from the old masters of painting from all European schools.
