Cook was born in 1961 in Phoenix, Arizona, and realized his passion for art at an early age.  As a kid he drew everything he could find.  In school he created coloring books, designed mascot patches and QSL patches, and drew portraits at CB rallies.  In junior high he painted large murals.  In the eighth grade, Cook discovered airbrushing, tried every airbrush, and became a dedicated Iwata user and evangelist.  His works have been featured in many Iwata magazine ads and catalogs.

In 1989 Cook went to work full-time for Hollywood Video stores in Portland, Oregon.  He created their logo, did all their graphic design, and painted hundreds of murals for their stores (some can be seen on Cook's website.)  He established technique and speed with an airbrush, sometimes painting three and four murals a week.  Many of these murals received first place, best of show, or other excellence awards and were featured in airbrush magazines.  

Cook moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1993 to create his own business specializing in graphic design and print management While running the design business, Cook decided to become a full-time artist.  As an avid motorcycle enthusiast, he created a series of paintings featuring American-made motorcycles which attracted the attention of Indian Motorcycle Corp.  Cook would have been their officially licensed artist but the company went out of business in September 2003.
