Oil Paintings, Australia Aboriginal Artwork by Alex Levin
Israel

Alex Levin was born in 1975, in Kiev, Ukraine; he immigrated to Israel in 1990.  At the age of 6 he started painting; six years later he entered the Art Academy.  Since 1992 Alex has been studying with the Chairman of the Israel Artist Association.  He practices the original manner of 16th century technique--the multi-layered use of tempera and oil (no brush strokes).  The main painting styles are Surrealism and Realism.

Alex has participated in many exhibits.  The majority of his paintings are displayed in private exhibits in Australia, Belgium, Israel, Russia, and the United States.

Australian Aboriginal Artwork by Alex Levin

The Australian Aborigines are believed to have come from Asia some 40,000 to 50,000 years ago.  They formed the world's oldest continuous culture.  The Aborigines spoke 500 different languages in 31 related-language families, and had intricate kinship and marriage systems.

In earlier times, the Aborigines lived entirely off the plants, insects, and animals of their native land.  In the desert of northern Australia, some Aboriginal people are still living the same way today, in the twilight of the remnants of their original culture.

Alex Levin went to the Australian desert in 1998 to experience the Aboriginal way of life.  As an artist, it was important to him to live with the Aborigines and participate in their every day habits and rituals.   Two of his paintings of the Aborigines are shown below.
