Helge Jensen was born in 1944 in the southern part of the small island of Fyn (also known as Funen) in the country of Denmark.  A member of Nordisk Pastel Forum (www.nordiskpastelforum.dk), Jensen works almost exclusively with soft pastels. His pastels have been exhibited in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Poland, and Sweden.

A photographer since 1962, Jensen is an illustrator and graphic designer in a book publishing firm in Odense, the birthplace of fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen.

This painting was made when Jensen was invited to an exhibition 
with the theme "Group Portrait."  Else and Joergen are married,
both are artists, and are some of Jensen's close friends.

This portrait is one a few that was done without meeting the person 
in real life.  She lives in England with her husband and three daughters.
The portrait was made from photos provided by her Danish parents.

Helge Jensen's birthplace, Fyn, is the third largest island of Denmark, located in the central part of the country.  Fyn's most famous landmark is Egeskov Castle.
