Layachi Hamidouche was born in 1947 in Annaba, a city on the Mediterranian Sea in Algeria, Northern Africa.  When he is not teaching as a professor of mathematics, he dedicates himself to oil paintings and drawing.  His interest in chess is often depicted in his art work.  Layachi's art work has been exhibited in Annaba and on the internet.

Algeria ("Africa's sleeping giant"), the second largest country in Africa, stretches from the shores of the Mediterranean to the Sahara Desert, the largest desert in the world.  Algeria borders the Mediterranean Sea, Tunisia, Libya, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Western Sahara, and Morocco.  Its capital, Algiers, was once famous as one of Arabia's most beautiful cities.

The Images of Eyes Gallery also exhibits paintings and art work from two neighboring countries, Morocco and Western Sahara.
